Wahoooo Texas is great:) the sunsets here are beautiful they are 180 because there are no mountains! Its beautiful!
This week we had a member dinner appointment and after we always ask, "is there anyone you know we can teach?" So we asked the Gonzalez family if there was anyone and she said this family down the street...but while she was telling us she got a really bad feeling about it and said, "no never mind don't go to their house! I don't feel right about it!" So we didn't go there...come to find out, there was a shooting right by that family's house. And their actual house was shot at! Haha wild huh?
Ok so I have been hesitant to share this story because I didn't want to point out that I am clearly not a perfect missionary hahaha. But....something that has always been hard for me is fasting hahaha. I love seeing the miracles that come from fasting, but it has never been easy for me to not eat for 24 hours haha! Anyway, this week we decided to fast as a district and I'll be honest...I'd like to say I didn't complain about fasting but I definitely complained about being hungry. I made it though a whole 24 hours!! After church we ended our fast and ate a little bit then went to visit some inactive members who were so kind in giving us a dinner of hamburgers. We then had a dinner appointment set up with members where they gave us tacos with lots and lots of meat. I could barely eat that, haha. I was so so full! But I ate it! Then we went knocking after our dinner appointment. The third door we knocked was a younger looking man and literally all we said was “Hola.” He was like come in come in! So we asked if there is a woman in the house and he said yes. It was this Cuban lady who talked to us for awhile about how much she loves Jesus and the bible...thennnn she said, "Do you like Cuban food?" Hahah and brought out another full meal to us of rice and chicken! I have never been so full in my life!! I was just shoveling the rice in my mouth hoping I could swallow it hahaha. It was so bad! Soo the moral of the story...don't complain about being hungry or else you will be fed 3 meals in 3 hours!! My stomach still hurts haha!!
This week we went knocking in this one neighborhood and we knocked on this old man's home and he said, "I already have Jesus, go find someone else who needs him” hahaha. So the next door we knocked was a lady named Monica. She is amazing! She loves the bible and loves everything about religion so we set up another appointment with her later this week! On Saturday we knocked on her door and my companion and I noticed that we did not recognize the door we were knocking and it was definitely the wrong house haha! But no door is wrong, am I right?? So we tried contacting the woman that answered but she said the Jehovah Witness' had already been there this morning and she didn't want more religion! Anyway so we went to the right house and we were able to teach the restoration to Monica! I said the first vision in Spanish. It was so hard but I did it! At one point during the lesson she said, “You have answered a question I have had for 50 years about why there are so many churches!” It was incredible and the Spirit was so strong!! And come to find out the Jehovahs witness' didn't stop by Monicas house so that was a huge miracle that we found her and we are teaching her :)
